sometimes call this pattern "Santa Fe".
This pattern repeats on a very large scale which shows up nicely with larger home decor items such as pillows, blankets and curtains. However, it can also work on a small quilting scale because it is a kaleidoscope of saturated color and texture. On a smaller scale, the color of your pieces will shift depending on where you cut - some pieces will be more golden, some more turquoise. Because of the large scale of the pattern, however, matching seams for clothing will be difficult - buy extra! This is one of my all time favorite textile patterns and I have used it extensively in my illustrations. It is featured in my textile pattern "Mass Ascension" (hot air balloons) and also in my "Dia de los Muertos" pattern. It is in both the quail and lizard in the "Acequia Parade" pattern. I have used it in illustrations of a quail, lizard, old farm truck and a horse. Learn more about my artwork and textile designs on my website: desertbirdmercantile.com. I sell finished products with my designs such as pillows, wall art, cards and children's books. Many of my illustrations are available on my website printed on 7" quilting square for story quilts.
